Our 10 year struggle to find our niche.

 After many disappointments in the 'business' of horses, and some wonderful facilities,
I decided to move out of the area, away from Maryland Hunt Country!
After all I learned about the business, I just had to get my head together
and to explore 'other areas' that no one seemed to be going into.
I did not know my niche at that time, except there was more to all of this,
and one of my later experiences proved I was right.
I was on to 'something' and this was/is a path that I could not betray.
When leaving the old farm of 60 acres, that took too much time and hard work to even keep up with,
 not alone to move forward with, I had a group of at risk youth from York Hospital come to me.
This group of 10 teens helped direct my goal. They helped changed my life!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In desperation to find myself, I went to Human Services in Harrisburg, Pa.
After speaking my souls agony, Mr. Dennis Darling said
"Rose, it sounds like you should be a non-profit organization".
 Then he pointed his finger at me saying:
"Be sure to tell everyone that you are an 'Idealist Program'.  That is very important".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We found 25 acres near the game lands in upper Lancaster County.
It has a house with 4 apartments, two ponds, pasture and a barn that needed work, however the area was enticing.
Two days before we were to sign the lease, after we had promised to leave the 60 acres,
 the property owner had a heart attack, so deal off!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After the search failed again, we were directed to a place of  ill reputation, for a year's contract.
The Penetentary!  Then, after many curves and disgusting events, we were helped by my dear friend Ray Hearne
to get to yet another location in Loganville, Pa. right along I-83.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We went to : The indoor arena that wasn't! We moved from a worse situation to this.
We figured it would last until we found another location.
This is where we became a non-profit org. in 1997.
Of course we learned the hard way that location must be looked at hard before moving there.

In 1984-'85, Baltimore County regulations were costly, as well as the cancer surgeon landlord --whose nationality did not like strong women, came against us --almost to show a man's power over women. We were in Baltimore Co. for only the one year, even as business was great in that area.
Then we found the 60 acre farm available for sale, just over the Md/Pa line, in York County.
I will not return to York County, because I do not live 'in a box'. I would do it alone first!
And so it is and has been from 1985 until 2006!
